Creating A Matrix Reporting Line
In a modern, multi-location business environment, flexible reporting structures can greatly enhance efficiency. Presto PDCA allows you to establish a matrix reporting line, effectively assigning a single team to multiple parent teams and creating the famous 'dotted line relationship'. This approach benefits organizations leveraging centralized management functions, centers of excellence, and 'follow-the-sun' strategies. By setting up these matrix relationships, users of the Organizational Chart feature and its reporting tools will see these connections indicated with a dotted line, providing clear visibility into how teams operate across different locations and time zones. Embrace matrix reporting lines to strengthen collaboration and drive continuous operational improvement.
Start on the Dashboard
1. Click on the photo of the team lead to which you would like to assign one or more 'matrix' reporting relationships
2. Click here to add matrix relationships
3. Add the name of the team supervisor of the matrix relationship
4. Select the available team(s) from the drop down
5. Click here to flag the relationship as a 'matrix relationship'.
By doing so, the line reported in the organizational chart will be dotted with an indication in the legend
6. Click here to save/create the new matrix reporting relationship
7. Congratulations!
Cristos and his Project Team now have a matrix reporting relationship (dotted line relationship) to Sergio, the IT Lead and a solid reporting line to Melanie, the Risk & Compliance Team Leader
