KPI CSV Upload & Validation

Upload KPI Results
in Bulk

A simple guide for uploading KPI records from a CSV/spreadsheet file, validating the results, and approving accurate data before it updates dashboards and reports.

KPI CSV Upload and Validation Console

The KPI Upload & Validation Console allows KPI owners and administrators to upload KPI history or recurring KPI results using a structured CSV file.

The process is designed to protect reporting quality. Uploaded records are staged first, then reviewed and approved before they update the KPI dashboard.

2. StartUse the File Log
3. UploadAttach CSV file
4. ValidateReview records
5. ApproveAccept valid KPIs

Prerequisite: the Source Setup step must already be completed before users can upload KPI files. This is the one-time configuration where an administrator or KPI owner defines the source file and event structure.

Tip: the Receipt Date normally reflects the KPI reporting period end date, not necessarily the date you are uploading the file.
Step 3

Validate and Approve KPI Records

Move to the Validation step. Open the pending records, review the uploaded KPI values, then click Approve for valid records or Reject for incorrect records.

Validate and approve KPI records

Why this matters

Validated KPI uploads reduce manual reporting effort while protecting data quality. Only approved records flow into dashboards, reports, and executive views.

Administrator Setup

One-Time Source File Configuration

Before users can upload recurring KPI files, an administrator or KPI owner must first configure the CSV Event. This tells Presto how to recognize the incoming file, who owns it, and how the records should be mapped to existing KPIs.

Typical scenario: a file is generated by an ERP system, client system, internal department, or reporting stakeholder. Once configured, future users only need to receive the file and upload it through the CSV Upload panel.

Source Setup Process

Step Action Purpose
1 Receive the source file Obtain the recurring KPI file from the ERP system, client, department, or stakeholder.
2 Confirm the file structure Check columns such as KPI name, result value, reporting date, unit of measure, and owner/team.
3 Create the CSV Event Define the upload event users will select later when uploading the recurring file.
4 Map file fields to Presto KPIs Link the incoming file records to the correct pre-existing KPIs on the dashboard.
5 Assign ownership and team logic Ensure the file is connected to the correct KPI owner, team, department, or reporting group.
6 Test the upload and validation flow Upload a sample file, validate records, and confirm approved data updates the correct KPIs.
Define CSV Event - Source Setup
Once complete: users do not need to repeat this setup. They simply select the configured CSV Event, attach the latest file, save the upload, and validate the records.
