Relocating a Team.

Move a complete team to the right place in your organizational hierarchy.

When reporting structures change, Administrator users can reposition an entire team beneath a new supervisor and parent team without rebuilding it from scratch. The people, identity and existing team structure move with it.

Step 1

Open Team Actions for the team you want to move.

Team Actions can be reached from more than one place in the team administration experience. Use either entry point to open the controls for the selected team.

Start from the team that is changing reporting line.

Select the team you want to reposition, then open Team Actions. The annotated image highlights the available access points so you can reach the same administration menu from whichever route is most convenient.

  1. 1
Select the team Locate the team in the Organizational Chart whose reporting line needs to change.
  2. 2
Open Team Actions Use either highlighted Team Actions entry point to open the administration menu for that team.
TIP
You are moving the team, not rebuilding it.

Use Move Team when the organizational unit already exists but needs to report into a different part of the company hierarchy.

Step 2

Select Move Team from the Team Actions menu.

The Team Actions menu contains the controls used to maintain the selected organizational unit, including the option to reposition it elsewhere in the hierarchy.

Choose Move Team.

Select Move Team to open the relocation panel. This is the option used when a team needs to move from one director, supervisor or organizational branch to another.

KEY
Moving a team changes its position in the hierarchy.

It does not archive the team and does not create a second copy. The existing team becomes a child of a different parent team.

Step 3

Choose the new supervisor and the team the relocated team should sit beneath.

To place the team correctly, Presto needs to know who will govern the new reporting line and which team in that supervisor's structure will become the new parent.

Define the new reporting line

Tell Presto exactly where the team should move.

The destination is defined in two parts. First identify the supervisor who governs the new area. Then select the target team in that part of the Org Chart. The team you are moving will become a direct child beneath that target team.

  1. A
Select Supervisor Identify the supervisor responsible for the part of the organization where the team is moving.
  2. B
Select Target Team Choose the specific team within that supervisor's structure that should become the new parent.
  3. C
Update Confirm the move. Presto will reposition the team beneath the selected target team in the Organizational Chart.

Check the destination before you click Update.

Moving a team changes the organizational hierarchy seen by other Presto users. Confirm both the supervisor and target parent team so the team lands in the correct reporting structure the first time.

The hierarchy now reflects the new reporting structure.

Once the team is positioned correctly, continue to Matrix Reporting Lines to learn how Presto can represent additional dotted-line relationships without moving the team's primary position in the Org Chart.
