Quick Wins - Step 8 of 9

Receive a task
status update from staff.

Quick Win #6 showed how to request a TaskConnect update. Now we close the loop. When a staff member or Feeder user submits task feedback, Presto alerts the manager, makes the activity easy to locate, and gives the manager a focused place to review and capture the latest task status.

Why this matters

The update comes back to the manager - not into a disconnected inbox.

Once a Feeder user responds through TaskConnect, Presto keeps the communication connected to the underlying work. The manager receives an alert, can locate the relevant activity and can review the latest information in context.

1

Know an update arrived

Presto alerts the manager when new task feedback or notes have been submitted.

2

Find the activity quickly

The Activity Register brings recent project and task notifications together in one slide-out list.

3

Review in context

Open the underlying activity and use the Task Outcome Panel to capture the latest decision-ready status.

The workflow

A simple four-step receiving cycle.

Notice the update, open the activity, review the feedback and record the latest status.

1

Alert arrives

The manager sees a new notification after the staff member submits TaskConnect feedback.

2

Open Activity Register

Click the notification icon and locate the relevant task or project activity.

3

Open the activity

Navigate into the project, issue or task list and review the feedback in context.

4

Capture the latest status

Use the Task Outcome Panel to confirm status, progress, outcome and the note that matters for governance.

Step 1

Presto lets you know that new task feedback has arrived.

When a staff member submits a TaskConnect update, the manager receives a notification on the Presto dashboard. Click the notification bell to open the Activity Register slide-out and see the latest project, task and note activity.

  • 1
Watch the notification bellA new alert signals that fresh activity requiring attention has arrived.
  • 2
Open the Activity RegisterClick the bell to open the slide-out list of recent activity.
  • 3
Identify the updateUse the description and timestamp to locate the task or project that has changed.
TIP
Think of the Activity Register as your "what changed?" view.

Use it as the quickest route back to the underlying work.

The manager sees the dashboard alert, opens the Activity Register and locates the latest task or project activity.
Step 2

Open the relevant project, issue or task list.

The notification is the signal; the action plan remains the source of truth. Open the activity so the incoming staff feedback can be reviewed alongside ownership, due dates, current status and the wider checklist.

KEY
Keep the review connected to the work.

Rather than rebuilding the staff response in a separate spreadsheet or meeting note, review it directly against the task it belongs to.

Step 3

Use the Task Outcome Panel for the manager's review.

The Task Outcome Panel provides one focused place to capture the manager's latest conclusion after reviewing the staff update. It is particularly useful during weekly task reviews and virtual project meetings.

Current statusConfirm whether the task is Not Started, On Track, At Risk or Delayed.
Completion %Record how far the task has progressed.
Expected outcomeConfirm whether the work is likely to deliver the result expected.
Close dateConfirm the actual or expected close-out timing.
Closing notesCapture what changed, what was agreed and what happens next.
Reporting flagWhere useful, send the note into milestone or management reporting.
FAST
Keep the manager's note short and decision-ready.

The goal is not to repeat the staff response. Capture the management conclusion and next action that should remain with the task.

Step 4

Turn the staff update into a clean management record.

Once the incoming information has been reviewed, capture the management conclusion directly against the task and move on. This closes the TaskConnect loop: the wider team feeds information in while the manager retains control of the official governance record.

1

Confirm

Validate the latest status, completion and expected outcome using the information received from staff.

2

Record

Add the short management note that should remain with the task for the next review or report.

3

Move forward

Escalate, follow up, close or continue the task based on what the latest feedback tells you.

Quick Win checklist

What does "done" look like?

For this Quick Win, the goal is to recognise a TaskConnect-fed alert, find the relevant activity and understand where the manager records the latest task conclusion.

1

You saw the alert

You know where Presto tells you that new task or project feedback has arrived.

2

You found the activity

You can use the Activity Register to identify the relevant project, issue or task update.

3

You know where to review it

You can open the task and use the Task Outcome Panel to capture the management status and next step.

Quick Win 8 complete.

You have now closed the TaskConnect loop: staff can feed task information back into Presto, managers are alerted when something changes, and the latest task conclusion can be captured directly against the work.
